LAKHIMPUR: Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi has demanded high-level probe into all allegations of corruption regarding the direct recruitment exams recently held for the Grade III and Grade IV posts of government departments and Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH).

The AJP president raised the demand while interacting with the media persons of Lakhimpur district headquarter on Wednesday. Notably, the AJP president, along with the central committee office bearers of the political party and brother-sister organizations, arrived in Lakhimpur on Wednesday with organizational purpose. In connection with the allegations of corruption regarding the direct recruitment exams for Grade III and Grade IV posts, Gogoi said, "It is very easy to commit corruption with blank OMR sheets. The OMR sheets can be filled up with the answers of the questions later if any candidate submits it blank. The correct option of the answers of the questions can also be marked later, if it is left unmarked and then submitted in this condition."

He said that one roll number was repeated in the result sheet of the Grade III and Grade IV posts of LMCH which was declared yesterday. "The candidate who submitted the OMR sheet blank, has also passed the exam as per allegation," Gogoi added.

Lurinjyoti Gogoi further said that the incumbent Government of Assam had failed to resolve the burning issues of Lakhimpur district, such as flood and erosion, flood problem caused by the release of excess water from the catchment area of the Ranganadi Hydro Electric Plant, deplorable road conditions, poor medical services, poor drainage systems, waste matters and garbage elimination etc.

He criticized Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his government alleging comprehensive failure with regard to shaping the LMCH as a completely functioning medical college and hospital. "After inauguration, the LMCH was not shaped to be a completely functioning one, as it should be done. The due facilities of all medical diagnosis, which should be in a medical college and hospital, have not been made available till date. Due number of doctors have still not been appointed following the Medical Council of India (MCI) norms. The jobs of a number of contractual Grade III and Grade IV employees have not been regularized. Pure drinking water, due facilities for newborn babies and mothers, like enough bed capacity, are not available in the Maternity and Children Hospital. Due to the extreme dereliction on the part of the State Government, the LMCH has turned to be a 'toy hospital' at present," Lurinjyoti Gogoi added.

Gogoi criticized the Chief Minister with strong terms alleging his failure in resolving the inter-state border dispute securing the interest of the State. "The Chief Minister and his government cannot secure the land of Assam and its people in the inter-state border areas. The Chief Minister is playing the game of politics for the sake of politics centering round the sensitive issue in order to establish his importance in national politics. We will not tolerate giving up a single inch of the native land to other states," the AJP president declared.

Referring to the AJP's political ideology, Gogoi said, "Our party has been focusing on positive politics in order to secure the basic principles of democracy. We will carry on it. We have the emotion of our nationality. Our party will work to realize the principle of Universal Basic Income (UBI). Overcoming our constraints, we want to work hard to make our State self-dependant, by providing job opportunities for the unemployed and leading the youths in a positive way."
